The double-headed Eagle was brought to Europe by Turkish traders and pilgrims during the Crusades, and was eventually adopted by the Orthodox Church as a Christian symbol for Power, Strength, Dominance, and Honor. Its popularity grew with the expansion of the Church and it has been used as a crucial element in the official seals and flags of many European countries, including Albania, Armenia, Serbia, and Montenegro.
